Ross: Cronyism ‘alive and well’ under Coalition

CRONYISM is “alive and well” in the Government according to Independent TD, Shane Ross, who said changes to how state boards are appointed are merely cosmetic.

Under new rules agreed by the Cabinet, members of the public can apply for these lucrative positions, which are normally given to political associates.

But Mr Ross pointed out that “those who are applying can be utterly ignored by the minister in charge who can go, just as Fianna Fáil do, and pick one of his pals out”.
