Poll: Voters furious with FG’s U-turn
Fine Gael’s back-tracking on its election pledge that it would not put “one more cent” into the banks unless major investors were forced to share the financial burdens was condemned by 41% of voters.
The European Central Bank insisted it would not allow senior bond-holders to suffer as part of the €24 billion recapitalisation of the banks, despite campaign rhetoric from both fine Gael and Labour to the contrary.
