A BANDON walkway is likely to be re-opened before the end of this week after it had to be sealed off due to a part-collapse.

Cork county council engineers will examine and reinforce the walkway, off the Glaslynn Road, sections of which are up to 200 years old.

Town manager Noel O’Keeffe said it is likely that the entire walkway structure will be examined “as part of the town’s flood relief works which are due to begin next spring”. “The project will look at the whole of the channel and it’s likely that work will be carried out in this area,” he said.
