Suspect device washes up

AN Army Bomb Disposal Team was forced to rush to a Donegal Garda station after a suspect device described as a “projectable enhancer” was handed in by a member of the public.

Suspect device washes up

The device had washed up on Rathmullan Strand yesterday afternoon.

The bomb disposal team arrived at Milford Garda station just after 5pm to remove the item in a “conventional munition disposal”.

The projectiles are plastic containers with small amounts of energetic material used to give extra distance to projectiles.

The Defence Forces spokesman described the device as “corroded but stable”. Nobody was hurt during the operation and the station was declared safe shortly afterwards.
