IT already puts paid to any argument regarding whether a cricketer is out or if a tennis shot is in and now the GAA is set to beat soccer to the punch and trial Hawk-Eye technology in the resolution of goal-line disputes.

The GAA has confirmed it is planning to test the technology on Saturday, April 2, in the Allianz League meetings of Dublin and Down in football and Dublin and Kilkenny in hurling at Croke Park.

Hawk-Eye is a computer system used in cricket, tennis and other sports to visually track the path of the ball and display a record of its most statistically likely path as a moving image.
