Bailey court ruling ‘major step’

THE friends of Sophie Toscan du Plantier have described the imminent extradition of Ian Bailey to France as “a major step” in the process of uncovering the truth about her murder.

The Sophie Toscan Du Plantier Truth Association (STDPTA) made the comment after the High Court’s decision last Friday to allow French authorities to take Mr Bailey abroad for questioning.

The 53-year-old, who lives in Prairie, Schull, west Cork, was twice arrested during the initial Garda investigation into the 1996 murder, but was never charged.
