SIX of the top 10 schools in the country, as judged by university progression rates, are fee-paying, while the other four are Irish-speaking.

The Sunday Times 2011 Parent Power Guide has found that the top schools include Gonzaga College in Dublin and Glenstal Abbey in Co Limerick, with a university progression rate of over 90%.

Coláiste Íosagáin in Dublin, the top Irish-speaking school, dropped from second to fourth position this year but still has 90% of its pupils going to university.
