Car’s airbags did not deploy

A MAN who suffered a severe brain injury following a car crash in December 2008 might not have died had the front airbags deployed, an inquest has heard.

Patrick Delaney, aged 56, Mullingar, Co Westmeath, died at the National Rehabilitation Centre in Dublin on July 21, 2009.

Dublin city coroner Brian Farrell said Mr Delaney died from complications of being in hospital as a result of a head injury. He was a front-seat passenger in the car. A narrative verdict was returned.
