Off-duty garda struck by car
He was walking in Cork city yesterday afternoon when he was hit by the car which was driven by a man in his early 20s.
The garda, who works in a station in east Cork, was walking along Brothers Delaney Road which runs through Blackpool Shopping Centre — which connects the new and old Mallow roads — when he was struck by the car.
He was rushed to CUH where he was being treated for fractured ribs and a punctured lung. A man in his 20s was later arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
