Irish team leads EU evacuation as foreigners flee Libyan capital

IRISH officials last night used the Government jet to evacuate 16 EU nationals, including three Irish nationals from Tripoli airport.

According to the Department of Foreign Affairs, yesterday morning, the Irish jet transported a joint EU consular team including members of the Irish ECAT team into Tripoli airport.

It remained on the ground until after nightfall before evacuating the Europeans.
