Couple’s repossessed home ransacked
Patricia and John Burnett packed their belongings and moved out of their three-bedroom Tipperary house in December after the High Court allowed GE Capital Woodchester take possession of their home.
On returning to collect post, Ms Burnett found the property — the couple’s home for 10 years — completely stripped by thieves.
“They took every plumbing fitting, pipe, electrical sockets off the wall, the sink, even the toilet. The place was stripped clean. It’s absolutely heartrending to see it. We don’t know who did it.” The couple now live in rented accommodation.
It is thought GE Capital are disputing taking possession of the home in Ballydrehid, Cahir, as no sheriff’s execution order was brought. This is despite a court ruling which gave the couple until December 6 to leave, which they did.
Ms Burnett said: “People should see what’s happening to homes when they’re repossessed.”
