BOTH Fianna Fáil and Labour have stepped up their attacks on Enda Kenny after the Fine Gael leader refused to rule out forming a single-party government.

Mr Kenny has left open the possibility of becoming Taoiseach with the help of a number of independent TDs after a weekend poll showed his party — at 38% support — may not need the support of Labour to form a Government.

Mr Kenny will travel to Berlin this morning to meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel, before returning for tonight’s RTÉ debate between the leaders of the five Dáil parties.
