THOUSANDS of shocked workers have contacted the Revenue Commissioners with queries and concerns about cuts in their pay packets because of the Universal Social Charge.

Revenue said yesterday that its offices around the country received 24,500 more calls and inquiries for the first month this year compared to last.

Figures show the offices handled 129,287 calls from January 1 to 26 this year. This compared to 104,781 calls for the same period last year.
