Jedward in Eurovision bid

X FACTOR’S Jedward is one of the five Irish acts competing to represent Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest along with Don Mescall, The Vard Sisters, Nikki Kavanagh and a mystery act.

Late last year RTÉ said it was taking a different approach to selecting Ireland’s Eurovision entry. RTÉ nominated five mentors with proven experience in the Irish music industry and asked them to select an artist and a song each that they believe has the potential to be a Eurovision winner.

Viewers will get a sneak preview of the five acts in Eurosong 2011 — The Players, to be broadcast on 5 February on RTÉ One.
