Call to rethink EU’s asylum rules after sharp criticism by court

THE EU’s asylum rules have been strongly criticised by Europe’s Human Rights Court.

The court in Strasbourg ruled that an Afghan asylum was treated in an inhumane and degrading manner and deprived of his rights by both Belgium and Greece.

The ruling has prompted calls from NGOs for a rethink of asylum rules across the EU.
