Government inaction over carbon monoxide criticised

That is the question constantly on the mind of Cathal Hughes, whose son, Pádraig, died on Christmas Day two years ago from carbon monoxide poisoning at his home in Westport, Co Mayo.

Despite continuous lobbying of the Government and the gas industry, Mr Hughes — who is spearheading an advertising campaign for carbon monoxide (CM) alarms — says his son’s death has done little to bring about a change in the law.
