Lord of the Rings stars enjoy night out in rebel city

THEY’VE battled orcs in Middle Earth together and now Lord of the Rings stars Elijah Wood and Dominic Monaghan have reunited for a private holiday in Ireland.

Lord of the Rings stars enjoy night out in rebel city

Iowa-born Wood, who played hobbit Frodo Baggins, enjoyed a night out in the Rebel city with his right-hand hobbit co-star, Monaghan, on Wednesday night.

Wood and Monaghan, who played Merry in Peter Jackson’s blockbusting trilogy, dined out in the Wagamama noodle restaurant on North Main Street.

Unlike the Middle Earth creatures who craved cake and a second breakfast, Wood, who turns 30 later this month, and Monaghan, 35, enjoyed chilli chicken ramen (a spicy pork and chicken soup topped with a marinated and grilled chicken breast), a salad, and green teas.

Manager, Ola Matuzik, said it was a low-key visit. “It was just the two of them. They were very relaxed, there was no fuss, and they posed for photographs and signed autographs afterwards,” she said.

And they tipped their server Tara O’Driscoll generously.

Monaghan, who also starred in the cult TV series, Lost, and Wood headed to the Washington Inn on Washington Street where Wood sampled Guinness and Monaghan had a hot whiskey.

Again, they posed for photographs with punters who quickly tweeted that the Hollywood stars were in the pub.

The actors have already visited Limerick and Kerry, where they attended a gig in Killarney by Cork band J90.

The friends have been touring Ireland since attending the wedding in Scotland last week of another member of the Lord of the Rings fellowship, Billy Boyd, who played Hobbit Pippin.
