Business as usual at Cork eatery
Businessman Jay Bourke yesterday insisted the Cork branch of the popular chain would remain open.
Mr Bourke said an examiner had been appointed to the company overseeing the Cork premises before Christmas on the basis of debts incurred from the closure of its branch in Ranelagh, south Dublin.
Another Cafe Bar Deli also operates on Grafton Street, Dublin, but this is run by the Campbell Group.
But Mr Bourke insisted there was no chance the Cork Cafe Bar Deli would face receivership.
“They’ll stay open. Absolutely. It’s like any business at the moment, it’s difficult. It’s doing fine.
“We have thrown it into examinership to clear out the Ranelagh debt. I fully expect that period to be over in 80 days,” he said.
“I fully expect it trade on during the period and to carry on.”
