No twilight term in Áras for Ahern

BERTIE AHERN and Éamon de Valera share one incredible accomplishment — winning three successive elections for Fianna Fáil.

But unlike his predecessor the 59-year-old Mr Ahern will not be able to wrap up his career with a twilight term in Áras an Uachtaráin.

The ex-taoiseach will not be the next President of Ireland. The long-term effect of his economic policies have left a sour a taste.
