Miranda Guinness dies

THE death was announced last night of Lady Miranda Iveagh — Miranda Guinness, the head of the famous brewing dynasty.

She was 70 and had been suffering from cancer for some time.

A short statement from the Iveagh family said the Countess of Iveagh died peacefully at her home in Wiltshire after a long illness.

Miranda married Arthur Francis Benjamin Guinness, the third Earl of Iveagh, in 1963. He was chairman of Guinness from 1965 to 1995.

Speaking last August to celebrate her 70th birthday, Lady Miranda said: “I have to admit, it’s been a privilege to be part of this family. I’m very much at home in Dublin.”
