Sea tragedy averted

A SERIOUS tragedy was averted off the west Cork coast, lifeboat officers said yesterday after two teenagers put to sea in a small inflatable dinghy in poor conditions.

The two set out on Wednesday afternoon from a pier on the south side of Dunmanus Bay.

The Coast Guard was alerted, but at 5.30pm RNLI crews were radioed by Valentia Coast Guard to say the teenagers had turned up.
