Garda body warns against cuts in face of social unrest

RANK-AND-FILE gardaí are warning of the “possibility of social unrest” at a time when garda numbers are being “drastically” cut.

The Garda Representative Association (GRA) said the cuts to budgets were “compromising policing” and would “blight the force’s reputation”.

The Garda’s largest staff representative body said the great strides made within the force in the past decade, and its core ideals, were under threat.
