THE Fine Gael party in Kerry South is expected to adopt a two-candidate strategy for the next election when it holds a convention in Killarney tonight.

Four candidates have been proposed for nominations — outgoing TD Tom Sheahan along with councillors Brendan Griffin, Patrick Connor Scarteen and PJ Donovan.

There has been a move in the constituency to nominate Mr Sheahan as the sole candidate, but there is strong grassroots resistance.
