A LARGE nursing home in Cork city has been sharply criticised in a report by the Health Information and Quality Authority over conditions that posed an “immediate risk” to its residents.

HIQA officials were forced to draft an emergency action plan last February at the end of a two-day inspection of Maryborough Nursing Home in Douglas.

They observed “an unsuitable and insufficient level of care to maintain the residents’ welfare and well-being”.
