Threat to family after TV show appearance
During the programme, members of the Moran family showed photographs of their murdered brother, Thomas, and their missing brother, Shane, who is also feared to have been murdered.
Since the programme, they have got phone calls from people they suspect were involved in the murder of Thomas.
One caller told them: “You are all going to die after going on the telly.”
Thomas Moran’s sister, Susan, a mother-of-three, said the RTÉ programme with reporter Barry O’Kelly was accurate. She said her family live in fear and want to leave Southill and Limerick.
Her brother Thomas was murdered on November 12, 2006, near his home in O’Malley Park. Aged 26, he was a drug addict, but had no links to serious crime. Another brother, Shane, 21, went missing in January 2009 and is feared dead.
She said the family have been subjected to intimidation because they gave statements to Gardaí after the murder of Thomas four years ago. They also provided information about a car linked to the murder.
She said: “We are afraid of our lives now, but we are not going to give up on getting justice for Thomas and finding Shane’s body. They’re our family. We are not going to give up on them.”
