Hundreds of schools stay closed

HUNDREDS of schools are likely to stay closed again today after classes remained shut in many parts of the country yesterday.

The weather has also disrupted school bus services in many regions because of dangerous road conditions, particularly on secondary and minor roads in rural areas. Bus Éireann is making decisions each morning on a local basis about the safety of various services.

The Department of Education is leaving the decision on schools closures to each board of management.
