SF may test €85bn bailout in the courts

THE EU and IMF €85 billion bailout agreement could be challenged in court by Sinn Féin, who believe it is unconstitutional to agree to the terms of a deal without a Dáil vote.

The party announced it was seeking legal advice on whether it can take a constitutional challenge to force a Dáil vote on the agreement, but said it will wait to see the details of the deal before making a final decision.

The party made the announcement as it welcomed its newest TD, Pearse Doherty, to the Dáil where he yesterday took the seat won in last week’s Donegal South West by-election.
