Weather brings Lotto luck

THE cold weather has come up trumps for one family who have netted a Lotto windfall.

The young family from Galway, who are remaining anonymous, have scooped €350,000 all because of the bad weather.

“We just can’t believe it, we’re going to make this the best Christmas ever,” said the delighted husband.

His wife normally plays Lotto, but he was dispatched to fill out their numbers because the weather was so cold.

The man went to the Tesco store in Galway Shopping Centre while his wife waited in the warm car.

The husband rarely plays and on the spur of the moment added Lotto Plus to the ticket.

“I didn’t check the numbers until Sunday morning. When I saw the numbers I went ashen-faced. I was in total shock,” he said yesterday after the family headed to Lotto headquarters in Dublin by train to collect their winnings.

“My wife had headed out to the garden for a cigarette and I checked the numbers on teletext,” he said.

He immediately brought his wife in and froze the numbers on the screen to show her.

“We’re going to make this the best Christmas ever.

“We are so delighted and we hope that this win will make life very sweet from now on,” said his wife.
