THE village of Clonroche in Wexford is rife with speculation as the search is on for the country’s latest Lotto millionaire.

Hunt is on for €2.7m Lotto winner

The winning ticket, scooping €2.7 million, was bought at Kavanagh’s Service Station, situated on the main Enniscorthy to New Ross road.

Despite the heavy snowfall and plummeting temperatures locals gathered in the shop following morning Mass as speculation grew as to who might be the latest Lotto millionaire.

The winning numbers were 3, 4, 5, 12, 20, 31 and the bonus number was 16.

The owners of the service station, Jack and Rita Kavanagh, said they have no idea who purchased the winning ticket but they are keeping their fingers crossed that it is someone local.

“I don’t think it’s sunk in yet. We have a big passing trade but hopefully it’s a local,” said the excited owners.

Although disappointed it wasn’t their winning ticket, most locals wished “good luck, to whoever it is”.

Popular local publican John Jude Doyle said the whole parish is speculating about who the winner might be.

“It’s great for whoever the lucky person is. All I will say is that I hope they enjoy it and spend it wisely.”

It’s the first major lottery success to have been won in the Clonroche parish and it has certainly helped improve the mood of the villagers.
