A THIRD of the HSE’s top managers want to leave the organisation under early retirement and redundancy schemes next month.

A third of  HSE top managers apply to leave

The 310 high earners who have applied to go include 42% of the assistant national directors, 56% of general managers and 25% of officials at the senior grade 8 level.

Some are expected to withdraw their applications before the deadline for final decisions next Tuesday and it is possible not all applications will be approved, but the level of interest among top staff is causing concerns about the impact on the organisation of services if they, and the 2,070 lower ranking managers and administrators who have applied, all go.
