Rocket man to return to play Marquee
With a hit-list spanning five decades, Elton John will be one of the headline acts Live at the Marquee on June 28.
One of the most flamboyant stars of pop, he is set play at Dublin’s O2 arena in December. He thrilled thousands of fans when he played Live at the Marquee in 2007.
Other big names set to take to the stage for Live at the Marquee in 2011 include X-factor winner Alexandra Burke on June 24 and rockabilly queen Imelda May, will play on June 23.
Peter Aiken of Aiken Promotions said he was delighted with the names booked to play the Marquee next June.
“We’re delighted to have Imelda May on the bill for the Marquee next year, and this will be Christy Moore’s seventh year playing the Marquee. He’s the first act we approach every year to start the line up. It’s also great to have Alexandra Burke who sold out two shows in Belfast and the Grand Canal Theatre in Dublin this January.
“Elton John wanted to come back to play the Marquee as he enjoyed it so much the last time he played back in 2007,” Mr Aiken added.
Other names who previously played the Marquee include Bob Dylan, Brian Wilson and Neil Young.
Tickets for Elton John start at €69.50 and go on sale December 2.
