Cork execution probe ongoing

THE Garda probe into the gangland-style execution of a convicted drug dealer in Cork city earlier this year is still very active, Cork City Coroner’s Court was told yesterday.

Coroner Dr Myra Cullinane adjourned the inquest into the murder of Gerard ‘Topper’ Staunton for six months.

Mr Staunton, 41, was shot outside his home at Westlawn, off Sarsfield Road, in Cork on January 20 last.
