Awards honour the caring and brave

A TIRELESS devotee to community work and a young man who bravely battled cancer to continue his studies were among those recognised for their achievements at the West Cork Garda Youth Awards.

The awards, which are in their 15th year, are a celebration of outstanding young people between the ages of 14 and 21 years, who are doing good work in their community.

In total, 27 people received 14 awards to commend their selfless involvement in everything from rescue operations to voluntary work, during a ceremony at the West Cork Hotel in Skibbereen.
