‘Immoral’ for Government to desert vulnerable

IT would be immoral for the Government to walk away from its responsibility to protect the country’s most vulnerable citizens just because the country is in a financial crisis, Age Action Ireland has claimed.

The older people’s charity was commenting on the Government’s decision to rule out fuel vouchers for the low-paid to compensate them for the introduction of a carbon tax earlier this year.

“It is not just an either/or situation and that it what the Government is trying to argue,” said Eamon Timmins of Age Action.
