Public service worker in ethics probe

A SENIOR executive engineer with Mayo Co Council has appeared before a hearing of the Standards in Public Office (SIPO) Commission yesterday – the first formal investigation into a public service worker.

Kieran Lynn faces allegations that he failed to disclose all of his property interests in line with legal requirements and of allegedly using his official position in the council and public resources to improve access to property he owned.

At the hearing it emerged that Mr Lynn faced a total of seven complaints, four relating to non-declaration of properties in the 2003, 2004 and 2009 registers of interests, and a further three concerning council improvements of a section of road on land owned by Mr Lynn and his wife Ann McGreal near Westport in Mayo.
