FINE GAEL has secured permission from the High Court to bring proceedings aimed at forcing the Government to hold by-elections in Dublin South and Waterford constituencies.

The proceedings have been brought after a High Court case taken by Sinn Féin senator Pearse Doherty relating to the Donegal South-West by-election.

The actions are being taken by Fine Gael senator Patrick Coffey and constituency chairman Michael Van Turnhout, over vacancies created by the resignations of Martin Cullen and George Lee.
