THE Government’s theme for Budget 2011 rests on a message to the people of Ireland: do what it says but do not follow its example.

Government hypocrisy: We cut and you spend

On one hand it wants citizens who are currently spending their money paying off debts and sorting out credit cards to spontaneously start spending some cash in the economy.

On the other it has committed to cut spending, save €6 billion next year and reduce the amount of debt it is exposed to.
