Two children set to sue in horrific family neglect case

THE two eldest children in one of the state’s most horrific child neglect cases are to launch a legal action against the HSE for vicarious liability, the Irish Examiner understands.

Given the full and unequivocal nature of the HSE’s apology this week regarding a series of failings over 15 years in what has become known as the Roscommon abuse case, it is thought likely that the case will be settled outside court.

A report published earlier this week has revealed how, despite repeated warnings and concerns over a 15-year period, the local health board repeatedly failed to remove the children from the care of their parents.
