Gardaí use bullet-proof cars seized from gangs

GARDAÍ are using two bullet-proof BMW cars, worth over €350,000, which were seized from gang bosses by the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB).

In its annual report for 2009, CAB said it received interim court orders seizing €11 million worth of suspected criminal assets and final restraint orders of €3.7m.

In addition, tax assessments on criminal income of €18m were carried out, with over €24m in taxes and interest demanded. Some €5m was collected in 2009.
