Wall of Inspiration to rally support for young people

THE nation has been invited to build a ‘wall of inspiration’ to help an innovative youth support project.

Wall of Inspiration to rally support for young people

The first bricks in the Big Brother Big Sister ‘Wall of Inspiration’ project will be laid in Cork’s Douglas Court Shopping Centre tomorrow.

People were invited last night to come along and place a brick in the wall, and write a special message to a person who has inspired them in their life.

The messages on each brick will be uploaded to an online ‘wall of inspiration’ and an email will be sent to the person nominated on each brick to highlight the impact they have had on the person.

The novel fundraising initiative is designed to raise funds for, and raise awareness of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ireland — an internationally renowned youth mentoring programme matching a young person, who will benefit from extra support, with a caring adult volunteer.

The programme operates in 14 counties supporting over 1,500 young people in school and community settings.

The group’s fundraising manager, Stephen Burke, said: “The wall will tour the country over the coming months and communities across Ireland will help to build an infinite online ‘virtual wall of inspiration’, where people can search for their brick and see other people’s inspirational messages.”

All of the money raised will go directly to supporting young people and the programme.

The wall of inspiration will be officially launched at 3pm tomorrow by members of the Cork senior football team.
