JUSTICE Minister Dermot Ahern said the garda probe into Anglo Irish Bank was probably the most complex investigation in the history of the state.

He said “no one was more frustrated” than the Cabinet at the length of the investigation.

He said evidence was at the heart of the delay in bringing people to book for the banking crisis: “Proof, and proof beyond reasonable doubt, is the issue.”
