Calleary: Expose poor public servants

THE junior minister tasked with overseeing the reform of the public service wants to devise a system to expose poorly performing public servants.

Public service union sources admit privately that while their members are technically as open as their counterparts in the private sector to disciplinary action, including the sack for non-performance, such measures are rarely — if ever — taken.

Public Service Transformation Minister Dara Calleary said he is determined to weed out those sections which are not providing adequate service.
