CD release is music to Limerick pupils’ ears

A MUSIC initiative in primary schools in Limerick’s regeneration areas will break new ground today when a CD will be released featuring children from Galvone national school in Kennedy Park, and the Irish Chamber Orchestra (ICO).

CD release is music to Limerick pupils’ ears

Up to 60 pupils in fourth, fifth and six classes sing songs they have written themselves, accompanied by the ICO.

Two years ago the Irish Chamber Orchestra, which is based in UL, embarked on a schools project to bring music into schools in Limerick where the pupils live in estates designated for renewal in the huge regeneration plan. Galvone was the first school chosen.
