SIPTU sets aside €348k as fund row continues

DESPITE repeated denials that it ever received money from the controversial €60 million SKILL training programme, SIPTU has set aside €348,000 to repay any unvouched expenses it is found to owe in relation to the scheme.

The HSE and Department of Health will this morning be grilled by the Dáil’s Public Accounts Committee on their roles in the programme between 2002 and 2009. The scheme is also the subject of a garda investigation.

As reported yesterday, a HSE internal audit uncovered major irregularities in the way the fund was managed, staffed and bankrolled.
