Further heave against Kenny unlikely despite poll plunge

ANOTHER heave against Enda Kenny is unlikely, despite support for Fine Gael falling to the same level as Fianna Fáil, at 24% according to the latest poll.

Members of the parliamentary party expressed shock, surprise and dismay with the results but say last June’s failed heave against Mr Kenny makes another attempt to overthrow the leader almost impossible for now.

Mr Kenny’s personal ratings are at 25% – a drop from the highs of 47%-48% he enjoyed back in 2007.
