O’Keeffe in Schering talks

The minister said he was anxious to talk to the people on the ground. He said he had been in close contact with IDA Ireland and had asked the agency to liaise directly with management and consider any available training and research and development grants to support the company’s transformation agenda. Mr O’Keeffe said he had also asked Fás to provide any necessary employment assistance interventions for workers who lose their jobs.

“The minister is working to protect existing jobs, explore options for growth and recruitment, engage the relevant state job creation and training agencies to secure the future of the company, and help those losing their jobs,” said Mr O’Keeffe’s spokesman.
