Cork pays special tribute to retiring city manager

Politicians, businesspeople, developers, civil servants and members of the defence forces and gardaí attended the function at the Moran Silver Springs Hotel where they bade a fond farewell to the Mayo man who has overseen the most unprecedented development in the city’s history.

Lord Mayor Cllr Michael O’Connell said Mr Gavin’s vision was long term. “The city is a vastly different place to when he arrived 10 years ago. It is only fitting to honour a man who has given so much. He was all about Cork,” Mr O’Connell said.
