Enterprise partnership will continue until 2041

THE Limerick Tunnel is a public private partnership enterprise which has a 31-year life span from yesterday’s opening.

Direct Route, the PPP company which yesterday took over the tunnel road, comprises John Sisk & Son (Holdings Ltd), Roadbridge Ltd, Lagan Construction Ltd and an Austrian company, Strabag, together with Meridiam Infrastructure and Allied Irish Banks plc.

Direct Route will employ around 100 to operate and maintain the tunnel roadway and Lagan Projects Ltd will be responsible for the day-to-day operating and maintenance of the roads and tunnel. The tolling operating is carried out by The Intolligent.
