Ship’s crew reject deal to land aid

A GOVERNMENT-brokered compromise deal with Israel to safely bring an Irish aid vessel ashore with its cargo and onto Gaza was yesterday rejected by the ship’s crew, just hours before the boat’s expected arrival off the Palestinian coast.

The Rachel Corrie aid ship was nearing the Gaza coast last night with its apprehensive crew determined to land humanitarian supplies, despite Monday’s deadly raid of ships by Israeli commandos.

Its crew unanimously rejected the compromise, telling the Irish Examiner that breaking the blockade was just as important as landing supplies for Gaza’s people.
