SEÁN QUINN, founder of the Quinn Group, has admitted he made a big mistake by buying shares in Anglo Irish Bank.

Burdened with a consequent €2.8 billion debt, he said he plans to pay the money he owes without taxpayer involvement and hopes to keep Quinn Insurance under family control.

While declining to discuss the exact detail of his dealings with Anglo Irish Bank, Quinn said neither he, the Quinn group nor his family did anything wrong.
